| Duane Grimm, 77, of 2346 South Oak Grove in Springfield, Missouri passed away at his home on Friday morning, March 7, 2008.
He was born February 13, 1931 in Boone, Iowa the son of Roy and Clara (Ahrens) Grimm. On August 28, 1955, he married Arline Grady at the Presbyterian Church in Chicago, Illinois. Duane graduated from DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Iowa and the University of Illinois with a degree in Business. He was involved in banking at the Valley Bank in Phoenix, Arizona, later was employed at Uni-Royal in Phoenix. In the summer of 1974, the family moved to Springfield, Missouri. For 20 years, he was self-employed in the dry cleaning and laundry business before retiring. After his retirement, Duane continued working at the local Wal-Mart in various departments for another 10 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Navy. Duane was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Chicago White Sox and Iowa Hawkeye’s. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Arline of Springfield, Missouri; 2 sons Keith Grimm and his wife Ria of St. Charles, Missouri and Roger Grimm and his wife Julie of Rochester Minnesota; 4 grandchildren Kristin Childs and her husband Will of Portland, Oregon, Mark Grimm of St. Charles, Missouri, Brent Grimm and Erin Grimm both of Rochester, Minnesota; 1 brother Merrill Grimm and his wife Betty of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and 2 nephews Steven Grimm and Bruce Grimm both of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Services will be held on Wednesday afternoon, March 12th at 1:30 p.m. at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone with Rev. Dr. Richard Harken officiating. Interment with full military honors conducted by the Veterans Council of Boone will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. | ||
