| | | We celebrate the life of Dora “(Dottie)” Carlson, who went to be home January 2, 2008. Dottie had been a resident at Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone, IA.
Dottie’s life began in McCook, NE, on June 10, 1930, the daughter of Jesse Raymond and Stella (O’Brien) Gragg.
Dottie met the love of her life, Glen Kenneth, on Veteran’s Day 1946 in McCook, NE. The couple was wed on March 27, 1947. Dottie enjoyed employment at the Boone Country Club, Boone County Hospital, and Boyd’s Dairy. She was a member of Sweet Adeline’s. She enjoyed writing poetry, scrap booking, needlework and genealogy.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers.
Dottie was blessed by her five children. Russ Carlson and wife Linda, Dawn Janssen and husband Gary, Troy Carlson and wife Elisa, Kim Dietz and husband Steve, and Glenda Latremore and husband Leo. She was also blessed to have mothered Debbie Ahrens. Further blessings came from 17 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She has one surviving sister, Nadine, who resides in Boone.
Services will be held on Saturday morning, January 5th at 10:00 A.M. at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone with Pastor Daniel W. Solomon officiating.
Interment will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa.
Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Friday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and Saturday morning at the Church from 8:30 A.M. until time of service.
The family will be present at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Friday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. to greet friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Augustana Lutheran Church or Evangelical Free Church Nursing Home in Boone.
