| | | Marilyn Broom, 71, of 528 Greene Street, Boone, Iowa, passed away at her home on Wednesday, December 5, 2007.
She was born on July 2, 1936 in Marion, Iowa, the daughter of George and Florence (Hagelburg) Roberts.
On July 29, 1960, she married Floyd Broom at the Central Christian Church in Boone, Iowa.
Marilyn was a kindergarten through third grade teacher prior to her marriage and continued teaching until her first child arrived, and then remained at home to raise three daughters.
She was a member of the Central Christian Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Red Hat Society. Marilyn taught Sunday school to two to four year olds for over 40 years. She loved children and helping them learn the simple basics of the Bible. Marilyn enjoyed her family, hand crafts, and giving to others.
Her parents, husband Floyd in August of 1983, and 1 brother, James Roberts in 1965 preceded her in death.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Jeanne (Jeff) Cholewa of Big Lake, MN, Beth (Kerry) Hainline of Urbandale, IA, Lynn Broom of Leesburg, FL, 5 grandchildren, Janelle and Zachery Cholewa of Big Lake, MN, Sarah and Samuel Hainline of Urbandale, IA, and Mishell Beck, 3 sisters, Virginia Kellogg of TX, Ruth Grimes of Vinton, IA, and Diane Johnson of Ogden, IA.
Services will be held Thursday morning, December 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the Central Christian Church in Boone with Rev. Paul Fraser officiating.
Interment will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa.
Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the Church on Thursday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
The family will be present at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to greet friends.
