| | | Anna Mae Alles, 90, of Columbia City, died at 8:21 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Renaissance Village where she had been a resident since March 11, 2011.
She was born January 21, 1922 in Cincinnati, Ohio a daughter of Carl H. and Martha M. (Wiemeyer) Maas. Most of her formative years were spent in Delphos, Ohio.
On June 6, 1942 she was united in marriage to Herbert J. Alles. They spent most of their married life together in Whitley County. Mr. Alles died February 14, 1992.
A homemaker, her memberships include St. Catherine Nix Settlement Catholic Church and its Rosary Society.
Surviving relatives include eight children, Marilyn (Rick) Krom of Albion, Ted (Becky) Alles of Milford, Beverly (Walter) Rectenwald of Fort Wayne, Larry (Patricia) Alles of Columbia City, Francis (Mary Jo) Alles of Columbia City, Douglas Alles of Fort Wayne, Renee (Tony) Reid of Haviland OH and Julie (Sam) Landis of Columbia City; 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Nichols of Delphos OH.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl, Herbert, Harold, Melvin and Norbert; and three sisters, Margaret Hoffman, Rita Hoffman and an infant sister.
The visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine Nix Settlement Reception Hall, 1000 South and State Road 9, Columbia City with the Rosary to follow, followed by the funeral mass in the church. The burial will be in St. Catherine Nix Settlement Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Masses or donor's favorite charity.
Arrangements are being completed by Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
