Betty R. Rhoades, 88, passed away Friday morning, July 20, 2012 at Zeeland Community Hospital in Zeeland MI where she lived with her son, Terry.

She was born July 4, 1924 in Bluffton, Indiana a daughter of Charles Homer and Nettie Lillian (Mains) Rosen She attended Washington Center High School while she lived with "aunt" Mary as a ward of the court.

On November 2, 1963 she married Donald E. Rhoades. They made their home in Arcola. Mr. Rhoades preceded her in death on May 31, 1984.

She retired from GE in Ft. Wayne in 1972. She owned and operated Rhoades Grocery in Arcola from 1973 to 1975.

Surviving relatives by four children, Linda (Robert) LeFever of Churubusco, Steven (Lora) Trier of South Whitley, Becky (Monty) Wolfe of Lake Placid FL and Terry Trier of Zeeland MI; eight grandchildren, Brian (Tana) LeFever, Kris (Tim) Brown, Jay (Jenny) Trier, Danelle Trier, Stephanie Trier, Shane (Heather) Stahl, Stacy (Marc) Byall and Don Barton; 16 great grandchildren, Tiffany & Josh LeFever, Shelbi & Mandi Krecik, Janea & Josie Trier, Aspyn & Cole Trier, Peyton Trier, Ava & Shalee Stahl, Becca, Marc & Cheyenne Byall and Autumn & Lucas Barton; three brothers, Charles H. Rosen Jr. of Oklahoma, Edward L. Rosen of Michigan and Frank A. Rosen of Michigan; and three sisters, Belva Carlisle, Flora Johnson and Donna Schrock, all of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert James Rosen.

The funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with visitation after 10 a.m. Tuesday. The burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
