DICKINSON, NORTH DAKOTA: Donald "Don" Huber, age 66, of Wolf Point, Montana and formerly of Glendive, Montana passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at his mother-in-law's home in Dickinson.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 26, 2009 in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Jolly Pathiyamoola officiating. Rite of Committal with military honors will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at the Eastern Montana State Veteran's Cemetery in Miles City, Montana. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Don was born on March 12, 1943, in Sidney, Montana, the son of Theodore and Margaret (Mock) Huber. Don was raised and educated in Sidney, attending Crane Elementary School and Sidney High School. After high school Don worked construction in Lewistown, Montana and Washington state. He later helped build power lines in California.
Don was drafted into the United States Army in 1965. He served in Vietnam as a Crew Chief on a helicopter and received a Purple Heart during his service. Don received an honorable discharge from the army in 1967. After serving his country, Don returned to construction, working for Larry DeShaw Construction Company in Savage, Montana. While doing a job in Killdeer, North Dakota he met his future wife, Darleen Kadrmas and the couple was married in Dickinson, on July 5, 1968.
After their marriage Don worked for the McKenzie Electric Coop for a short time before moving to Glendive and going to work for Western Area Power Administration where Don was employed for thirty years until his retirement in 1998. After retiring Don and Darleen purchased a farm near Wolf Point and built their house from the ground up on the farmstead and had resided there since.
Don enjoyed wood working and was an excellent carpenter. He had a beautiful singing voice and played guitar. He was able to use these talents when he would often play in a band on weekends. He especially enjoyed pheasant hunting with his German Wirehaired Pointers and the occasional deer or antelope hunt. Don loved watching baseball and was a die hard New York Yankees fan.
He was a life member of the V.F.W and a member of the local 1959 I.B.E.W.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and his father-in-law.
Survivors include: his wife Darleen Huber of Wolf Point; one daughter Lisa (Brian) Reiter of Dickinson; two sons, Tom (Theresa) Huber of Glendive, Montana, Jared Huber of Wolf Point; grandsons, Austin and Lance Reiter and Donald and Cody Huber; five brothers, Ted (Carleen) Huber of Great Falls, Montana, Richard (Nancy) Huber of Laurel, Montana, Harold (Pat) Huber of Great Falls, Alvin Huber of Winnemucca, Nevada, Pete (Phyllis) Huber of Cozad, Nebraska; two sisters, Viola (Gabe) Fischer of Savage, Eileen Loegring, of Billings, Montana; his mother-in-law, Mary Kadrmas, of Dickinson and numerous nieces and nephews.
