Richey,Montana: Sally Diane Sodt, age 63, of Richey, Montana, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2009 in Glendive, Montana following a courageous battle with multiple cancers.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Christian Missionary and Alliance Church in Richey with Rev. Vaughn White and Bill Miller officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Richey, Montana is entrusted with arrangements.
Sally was born May 2, 1946 in Elgin, Illinois, the daughter of Henry Clayton and Martha Marie (Colberg) Wood. She was raised and educated around Elgin attending McKinley and Coleman Elementary, Larsen Junior High and the Elgin High School.
Sally married Gary Sodt in Elgin, Illinois, on August 31, 1963. They lived in the Elgin area until moving to St. Charles, Illinois in 1968. In 1982 they moved to Richey Montana where they have since resided. Sally owned and operated the Stockman Bar in Richey for nineteen years where she could be heard yelling "leave the door open". She was also well known for her home made soups.
Sally enjoyed cooking and was currently working on a cookbook. She was a member of the Richey Saddle Club for many years. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers, yard work and collecting angels and raccoons. Sally was a huge pet lover always taking in strays. She especially loved her children, grandchildren and doing everything with her husband Gary.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson Matthew (Matt) Mavity.
Survivors include her husband Gary of Richey, one daughter, Michelle Marie Lobdell and her husband Cody of Glendive, Montana; two sons, Gary Lee Sodt Jr. and his wife Jan of Hampshire, Illinois and Greg Lee Sodt and his wife Tracey of Richey, Montana. Eight grandchildren; Matt (deceased), Dustin, Gage, Peyton, Gary, Kody, Jess and Joe and four great grandchildren, Shannah, Madison, Kylee and Tripp. She is also survived by three sisters, Nancy Hoffman and her husband John of Whitewater, Wisconsin, Judy Sweat of Whitewater, Wisconsin and Carol Wood of Elgin, Illinois.
