| | | SIDNEY, MONTANA: Steven Robert Hostetler, age 55, formerly of Glendive, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at his home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M.- 5:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Friday, October 9, 2009 in the chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Assembly of God Church in Glendive with Pastor Curt Curtis officiating. Interment will follow in the Country Cross Cemetery in rural Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Steve was born on November 13, 1953 in Sidney, the son of Bob and Christine (Sturgis) Hostetler. He was raised and educated in Glendive graduating from Dawson County High School with the class of 1974.
Steve worked as a welder for Crisafulli Pumps in Glendive for a couple of years, until purchasing a welding truck and striking out on his own, primarily welding for the oil fields with an occasional odd job for a local rancher.
Steve married Kathy McDowell in Glendive at the Assembly of God Church on August 10, 1974. They divorced in 2004.
In his younger years Steve truly loved to play baseball and race motocross. In his adult life his hobbies included deer hunting, collecting insulators, golfing, agate hunting and fishing. His pride and joy was his little dog Lexie. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was very important to Steve.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Survivors include: three daughters, Samantha Hostetler of Kansas City, Missouri, Angie Flynn (Todd) of Ellendale, North Dakota, Stephanie Hostetler, of Kansas City; his parents, Bob and Christine Hostetler of Glendive, his brother, Sam Hostetler of Phoenix, Arizona, his sister, Donita Mariegard (Gary) of Montana City, Montana; three grandchildren, Taylor Flynn, Kyle Flynn, and Elijah Flynn of Ellendale; three nieces, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
