Margaret “Peggy” (Hogoboom) Myers, 70, of Medora, North Dakota, passed away peacefully in her home on October 4, 2009, following a year and a half battle with small cell cancer.

Peggy, the daughter of Byron and Dorothea Hogoboom, was born in Beach, ND at the Johnstone Memorial Hospital, on March 19, 1939. She had a happy childhood raised in a loving, Christian family. She attended Sentinel Butte High School, during which time she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Roger Myers, who attended Medora High School. Peggy graduated in 1957 and went on to obtain her secretarial certificate from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 1959.

Peggy married Roger on August 8, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sentinel Butte. While Roger obtained his teaching degree at Dickinson State University, Peggy worked as a secretary for Mon-Dak Utilities both in Beach and in Dickinson. In 1960 Roger and Peggy settled on the ranch northwest of Medora, North Dakota, where Roger grew up. They enjoyed 50 years of what Roger describes as “a marriage made in heaven.” They had four children, Curt, Karen, Lori, & Brenda all of whom experienced their mom’s selfless and unconditional love every day of their lives.

Peggy enjoyed numerous hobbies and activities including quilting, playing bridge, golfing, skiing, and cheering for local basketball teams. She loved her time with P.E.O and was an active volunteer in her community, leading bible studies, working tirelessly for Badlands Ministries, and serving on various area boards. She will fondly be remembered for her kindness, energy, efficiency, selfless giving, and love of her faith, family and friends.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Roger; one son and three daughters, Curt Myers of Medora, ND, Karen Rice of Denver, CO, Lori (Mark) Elliott of Steamboat Springs, CO and Brenda (Rich) Larsen of Hudson, WI. Nine grandchildren also survive Peggy, Jesse Myers and Jordan (Jesse) Morin, Donovan and Connor Rice, Taylor and Amber Elliott and Ty, Allie and Brady Larsen; and one great-granddaughter, Haiden Morin. Peggy is also survived by one brother and two sisters, Ralph (Karen) Hogoboom of Reno, NV, Kathleen (John) Hanson of Beach, ND and Marian (Bill) Eisenmann of Maplewood, MN.

Her father, Byron, her mother, Dorothea, and her brother Robert (Bob) preceded Peggy in death. Peggy has answered the call, “Well done, good and faithful servant… Come and share your master’s happiness.” – Matthew 25:21.

In remembrance of Peggy, those that wish may make contributions to Badlands Ministries Bible Camp. Visitation will be held at Medora Lutheran Church on October 8, 2009 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. with a prayer service following at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Badlands Ministries Bible Camp in Bethlehem Hall on October 9, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at the Medora Cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach is entrusted with arrangements.
