GLENDIVE, MONTANA: Arnold Leslie Butler, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, September 30,2009 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive.
Visitation will held from 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 3, 2009 until time of services at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive.
Funeral Services will be at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, October 3, 2009 in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive, with Chaplin John Groshart officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Arnold was born on October 23, 1928 in Mandan, North Dakota the son of Frank and Sarah (Carlson) Butler. He attended Rural Morton County School.
Arnold enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1951. During his enlistment Arnold served in Korea. Arnold was honorably discharged from the National Guard in 1953. He was a life time member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #1125.
Arnold married Scholastica (Sally) Boehm on June 23, 1952 in Mandan, North Dakota. While living in Mandan he worked for Stein Trucking and Farmers Union Transport. In 1961 the couple moved to Glendive where they continued to reside until their death. Arnold was preceded in death by his wife Sally in 1991. Arnold continued to drive truck, which he truly loved, until his retirement in 1982.
Arnold enjoyed driving truck, listening to music, playing the accordion, fishing and was one of the best agate pickers!
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Sarah and eleven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include, one son, Arnold M. Butler of Glendive; four brothers, Wayne Butler, Raymond Butler, Gary Butler and Walt Butler all of Mandan, and one sister, Donna Ennen of Bismarck, North Dakota.
