| | | Robert D. Austby, age 79, of Wibaux Died at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker, Montana on Wednesday, January 29, 2003.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, February 2, 2003 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Chapel in Wibaux, Montana, with Rev. Warren Maxted officiating. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Wibaux is entrusted with arrangements. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at
Robert was born May 19, 1923 in Glendive, Montana the son of Edward and Esther B. (Peterson) Austby. He was raised and educated in Glendive graduating from Dawson County High School in 1941. Robert was one of the first class to attend the Dawson Community College in Glendive.
Robert was married to Alice E. Thomason in Glendive, Montana on March 24, 1951. After their marriage they resided in Glendive where Robert was a manager for Sawyers grocery store. Robert entered the U.S. Army on April 5, 1943 he served in the South Pacific and received several medals. He was discharged on November 23, 1945.
Robert loved to read and was very knowledgeable about family history. He also enjoyed going to coffee with his friends. Robert in his later years was in the trenching business and construction. He retired in the early 1990's to care for his ailing wife.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife Alice.
Robert is survived by two brothers, Ray Austby and his wife Fern and Donald Austby both of Wibaux, Montana and numerous nephews and nieces.
