| | | Ruby Marie Ackerman, age 73, of Glendive, died Saturday, January 18, 2003 at the Glendive Medical Center.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 22, 2003 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Glendive with Father Joseph Ponessa officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Ruby was born on July 18, 1929 in Hodges, Montana the daughter of Richard and Marie (Strietz) Tennant Sr. She lived in Hodges until 1939 when the family moved to the family farm. She attended the Parker School in rural Dawson County and graduated from the Wibaux County High School with the Class of 1947. She married Edmond Frisinger on November 11, 1947. They later divorced. She married Raymond Ackerman on July 8, 1957 in Livingston, Montana. They owned and operated the Conoco station in Glendive for a time. Ruby and Ray owned and operated the Husky Truck Stop in Glendive for 25 years until their retirement. Following retirement she and her husband enjoyed wintering in Arizona and Nevada. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband in April of 1992.
Ruby was a 51 year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteer work with the Glendive Senior Citizens, R.S.V.P., Eastern Montana Veterans Home, Glendive Medical Center Auxiliary, and Makoshika State Park. She was active in the Red Cross Program and served as director for the Bloodmobile.
Survivors include, one son, Daniel Frisinger and his wife Pearl of Manhattan, Montana; three step-daughters, Diane Nentwig and her husband Don of Glendive, Beverly Baldry and her husband Ike of Billings, Montana, and Boni Butka of Sumner, Washingto; two brothers, Larry Tennant and his wife Marilyn of Glenrock, Wyoming and Toby Tennant and his wife Ruby of Wibaux, Montana; one sister, Mary Ann Johnson and her husband Duane of Riverton, Wyoming;
a special brother-in-law and friend, Don Green of Glendive; three half-sisters, Alice Beeler of Wibaux, Montana, Georgetta Hilderbrand and her husband John of Pahrump City, Nevada, and Sheila Bowman and her husband Herbert of Indiana; one half-brother, Forest Tennant of Missoula, Montana; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clifford in 1943 and Richard in 1996.
