| | | Lewis W. Beddow Jr., age 83, of Glendive, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2004 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive.
A Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, August 11, 2004 in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 12, 2004 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Joseph Ponessa officiating. Rite of Committal with military honors will be in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Lew was born on March 27, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Lewis Sr. and Anna (Zahn) Beddow. He graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn with the class of 1938. Lew attended Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, New York and Dawson Community College in Glendive. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in September of 1942. Lew and Ione Montgomery were united in marriage on June 2, 1943 in Lewistown, Montana. Following his discharge from the military in September of 1945, Lew returned to Glendive where he worked for Hilger's Chevrolet, Exchange State Bank and the Franklin Life Insurance Company for 40 years and an 18 year member in the Franklin Million Dollar Club.
Lew was a family man and an avid fan of his children's and grandchildren's special events as well as being a loyal Cardinals, Knicks and Colts fan. He was a local actor of stage and screen and took part in local Thespian productions which included the Follies and he landed a part on "Unsolved Mysteries". Lew was a member of the American Legion, Jaycees, Kiwanis, Sacred Heart Church Choir and the Barber Shop Quartet.
Lew was preceded in death by his parents, and one son.
Survivors include his wife, Ione, of Glendive; eight children, Lew Beddow and his wife Susan of Billings, Montana, Wayne Beddow and his wife Linda of Missoula, Montana, Lynn Deines of Bloomington, Minnesota, Neil Beddow and his wife Gretchen of Bozeman, Montana, Ann Beddow of Bloomington, Minnesota, Karen Beddow of Helena, Montana, Kay Heaton and her husband Terry of Basin, Montana and Kim Rodakowski and her husband John of Red Lodge, Montana; one sister, Gloria Beddow of Tamarac, Florida; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
