|Richard L. Saylor, 80, also known as Dick to friends and family, was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Dick moved from Indiana in 1974 to Houston and became a proud Texan. He has been a resident of Walden since 1979.
Dick passed away on Saturday, December 26th at the Solara Hospital in Conroe, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was the President/Owner of Phoenix of Texas in Houston where he was an architectural designer of commercial kitchens. Dick was known for his work on the Norad facility in Colorado. He was an avid golfer and storyteller. He was involved for many years in the community theater, and one of his greatest joys was singing in the church choir.
Dick is survived by Phyllis, his wife of 62 years. He leaves behind three brothers, Keith Saylor of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jim Saylor and Jerry Saylor of Pentwater, Michigan. He also leaves behind six children, Lou Ann Homan, Angola, Indiana; Jo Saylor-Wilds of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Scott Saylor, Camp Falcon, Iraq; Lee Gordy of Salida, Colorado, Jack Saylor and Leslie Easley of Houston. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
A memorial/celebration of life will be held at the Walden Community Church, Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. The Saylor family has asked that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to The Church Choir, of which Dick is a member, of Walden Community Church, 12400 Walden Road, Montgomery, Texas 77356.
