Doris Barron Beaven of Montgomery, Texas passed away June 10, 2009. She was born November 12, 1911 at Dilley, Texas to Dudley Barron and Eula Gibson Barron.

Doris graduated from the high school department of the State Teachers College at San Marcos in 1929. She had the honor of being the salutatorian of her class, was on the honor roll during both terms of the school, and was presented with a National Honor Scholarship of America, the latter being conferred by the teachers of the school. She attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College.

Doris was from a pioneer east Texas family. Her great grandfather Uriah Barron having moved from Mississippi to Cass County, Texas with his family by 1852. Her grandfather William Fletcher Barron served in the Confederate army.

She married Alfred Alexander Somerville in April 1931 and their daughter Nancy was born in 1933.

She married Price Davis Beaven, December 18, 1938 at Corpus Christi. They were married fifty years. Price, her parents, brother Duane and grandson Carl Seaholm, III all predeceased her.

Doris and Price lived in Corpus Christi until he retired and then they moved to the Hollywood Park area of San Antonio. Later they moved to the Houston area to be near their son Dudley and later to the Conroe area.

Doris was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Conroe and had attended church services regularly until very recently.

Survivors include daughter, Nancy Somerville Seaholm, of Kyle, sons and their wives, Dudley P. and Brenda Beaven, of Montgomery and John D. and Katie Beaven, of San Antonio, granddaughters Mary Beaven Sprague of Willis, and Allison Beaven Faiola of Conroe, grandsons, Jeffry Seaholm of Kyle and Charles Beaven of Sumter, South Carolina, great granddaughters Brittany Seaholm of Kyle and Jennifer Seaholm of San Antonio and nieces Diana Spiser of Dripping Springs and Mary Lumbley of Austin.

Special thanks go to caregivers Gladys Hensleit, Al Armijo and Rebecca Blackford for the loving care they gave Doris.

Graveside services and burial will be June 15th at 1:00 P.M. at the San Marcos City Cemetery at 1001 Ranch Road 12 under the direction of Pennington Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Reverend Bob Gardner of the Hayes Hills Baptist Church. You may leave a written condolence to the family at www.shmfh.com.
