A viewing will take place prior to the memorial service on Sunday, April 5th from 3:00 until 6:00 pm. Bud will be laid to rest at Bethel Cemetery, Montgomery, Texas. Bud was born March 8, 1913 to loving Christian parents, Bill and Della Binford. He passed away peacefully at home on the same country road where he was born and lived most of his life. He was preceded in death by two children, Elizabeth Ann, and William Douglas, first wife Ann Vasek Binford, who died in 1986 and second wife Velna Hoke Binford, who died in 2002, two beloved brothers, and many other relatives and dear friends. He is survived by two sons, Sonny Binford and wife Nita, and Tom Binford, step-sons, James, Donald, and Henry Hoke; sisters, Rachel Erickson, Iris Henderson and husband Gene, Irma Cockrill, Julia Richards, Jean Johnson, Beth Stephens and husband Steve, Billye Smith, and Velma Rothrock and husband Rock.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and the lovely lady he called “My Sweetheart”, Zelma Hogue. He also leaves behind Gertrude Olbrych, and Willie Mills. These ladies were not only his caregivers, but his dear friends. Pallbearers will be Stephen Binford, Tommy Binford, William Binford William Durfey, Bruce Smith, and William Stephens. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Corley, Tom White, Gene White, Wallace Johnson, Tommy Thompson and Glenn Egly.
Bud led a long and fruitful life during which time he faithfully served the Lord as a life-time member of Dacus Baptist Church, his country in the Coast Guard during World War II, and his community in countless ways. He was very proud to be a Mason. Bud lived and loved his life to the fullest. He truly enjoyed people; happily sharing treasured memories with his many loved one and friends, and rarely missing a social event. He was an entertaining, spirited individual and touched so many lives with his wit and wisdom. Bud credited God alone for the blessings he received. When asked how he was doing, regardless of the situation, his response was most often, “I can’t complain!” followed by a joyous recitation of the good things God gave him. He will be remembered for his ready smile, his anecdotes, and his zest for life. He was a gentleman of the first order, and will be sorely missed.
