Billy Bob “BB” Pierson , passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at his home in
Montgomery, Texas. He was born on May 1, 1931 in Big Spring, Texas to Albert and Lorena Pierson. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim Pierson of Jal, NM and Emile Benjamin Pierson of Austin, Texas; sons, Michael James Pierson of Abilene, Texas and Mark Lane Pierson of San Diego, CA.

He graduated from Baird High School, in Baird, Texas in 1948. He served three years in the U. S Navy and graduated from Texas A & M University in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology. After graduation, he began his professional career with Humble Oil and Refining/Exxon Corporation in numerous regional offices in south Texas before his international experience in Peru and Indonesia. Most of his professional career was spent in northwest central Texas, including Fort Worth and Abilene, Texas. His worthiest achievements were the discovery of two prolific oil fields from his geology. One in 1979 and the other in 1980 – both are continuing to be productive today.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sandy; son, Chris and wife Dee Dee of Fort Worth; daughters, Dona Brown of Frisco, Paula Hamilton and husband David of the Woodlands, and Laurie Hartshorn and husband Bud of Seattle; seven grandchildren; brother, Eddy Ray Pierson of Tucson, AZ.; numerous nieces and nephews. Other important survivors are his beloved four legged family, Blitz, Buddy, Piper and D. D.

Mr. Pierson will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered in Belgium, where his father was born. A private memorial is being held in the home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the animal shelter of your choosing.
