Leonard J. Singleton
“PaPa”

Funeral services for Leonard J. Singleton, 92, of Montgomery, will be held at 1pm,
Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Floyd Hoke of Singleton Fellowship Bible Church officiating. Visitation will be held on
Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 6pm to 8pm. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Montgomery. Mr. Singleton was born on January 25, 1916 in Montgomery and passed away on January 9, 2009 in Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virgie Mae “Polly” Singleton; grandson, Jim Leon Singleton; son-in-law, David Francis, Sr., five brothers and three sisters. Mr. Singleton is survived by sons; Leonard Singleton, Jr., and wife Pauline of Baytown, and Alton Singleton and wife Brenda of Montgomery; daughters, Katie Francis of Montgomery and Barbara Paul and husband Frankie of Montgomery; grandchildren, Brandy Sparks, Brian Phillips, Stacy Kaaz, David Francis, Jr., Matthew Francis, Rachel Montgomery, Renee Beken, Darrell Strickland, Derek Strickland, Daron Strickland and Tannie Ackley; and 23 great grandchildren; also, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Singleton served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1935-1937. He also worked for Montgomery County Commissioners, the U. S. Forest Service and retired from the Texas Forest Service in 1979 after 18 years of service. Pallbearers will be Barry Bay, Joe Corley, Dale Harris Homer Jones, Mickey Phillips and Billy Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Mason and Ray Wood.
