| | | Claude A. Swonke, 62, of Montgomery, Texas, peacefully went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on November 26, 1945 in Houston, Texas.
He was a very brave, kind, calm, smiling, gentle, loving man who could easily make everyone laugh. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by all.
Claude began his career in printing in Texas; then moved to Arizona with his family where he raised three children. He moved back to Texas in 2005 and bought his dream home in Montgomery in 2006 where he enjoyed the country living and his wood art.
He was welcomed home by his Lord and his parents, John C. Swonke, Sr., and Emma Mock Swonke. He leaves behind to cherish his memory; his brother, John C. Swonke, Jr., and wife Nona of Magnolia, Texas; sister, Mary Elise Klaus and husband Louis; nieces, Terri Silquero and her children Elissa and Nikki, Deanna Perez and husband Cid; nephew Stephen Klaus, all of Houston, Texas. His stepchildren; Lori Groover, John Hall and Tammy Cole; grandchildren, Natasha and Leanna Cohen, Dustin Hall, Payton, Jenee’, and Jarren Cole all of Mesa, Arizona. He was greatly loved by his family and friends, and will be dearly missed. He was our family treasure and God’s inspiration to us all.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 28, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery, Texas.
