| | | Betty Lou Brookshire, 84, lovingly known as “Grandma” and “Mother” passed away in Houston, TX on March 21, 2008. Betty was born in Comanche, TX March 12, 1924 and was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Melvin D. Brookshire. Mother was an outstanding English teacher who touched the lives of many for 35 years. She retired from the Conroe School District in 1985 upon the graduation from high school of her son, Van Brookshire. She is survived by 3 children: Dr. Bonnie Brookshire/Watson and husband Dan; Sharon Kneisley and husband Kameron; Van Brookshire and wife Kristi; 9 grandchildren: Reed, John, Christina and husband Jason, Allison, Carrie, Grace, Katie, Sarah, Joshua; 3 great grandchildren: Maddie, Jackson, and Marlie Marie. Mother gallantly fought the many illnesses that gradually robbed her mind and body since the death of our father in 2005. Her family receives her death as a time to celebrate her life and the joy she brought to so many. We find comfort in the timing of her death; Easter, a symbol of forgiveness, renewal and peace. We take comfort knowing she is finally with her Lord and loved ones and for that we are thankful. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, March 24 from 6-8 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis, TX. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 25 at 2 PM at First United Methodist Church of Conroe with interment following service at Evergreen Cemetery in Coldspring. You are invited to leave a written tribute to the family on our website at www.shmfh.com.
