| | | Don was born July 17, 1927 to Charles Oliver and Mary Glazier Miles in Klondike, Illinois. He graduated from Lawrenceville, Illinois High School and joined the Navy in World War II. He was employed by Marathon Oil Company in Findlay, Ohio and worked there until his retirement. He was a member of the St Marks United Methodist church.
Don was married to Mary Ruth Hiett (Ruth) on June 4, 1950 and she preceded him in death on August 26, 1997. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Ogle, Carl, Charles, Lyle, Lewis and Doris Lee and sisters Irene Gray, Lucille Waggoner, Catherine Montgomery, Bernideen Chaney and Crystal Miles.
Don was married to Nada Colt from Fort Myers in 2006 and she survives. He is also survived by his sons Bruce and Kim (Hugus) Miles, Granville, Ohio, and Kevin and Jeri (Johnson) Miles, Orlando, Florida; daughter Deborah Morgan, Lancaster, Ohio; nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and his sister Edith Smith in rural Sumner Illinois.
Don was active in Boy Scouts, a member of the Findlay Garden club – he loved growing things and loved the outdoors. He did not, however, enjoy winter – hence the later years of his life in Florida.
A memorial service will held Tuesday, May 22nd at Hueston Cemetery (16897 CR-20, Forest, OH 45843) at 11:00 AM. A time of fellowship and remembrance will follow the service.
