| | | Robert F. "Dobbie" Dotson, age 72, of Greenwich, Ohio, a loving husband, father and grandfather went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 after a lengthy battle with COPD.
He was born on January 24, 1937 in Kenton, Ohio to Ellis and Mildred (Patton) Dotson. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Fran (Garbeth) Dotson; sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Lisa (Scheurer) Dotson of Bellville; Stephen and Jennifer (Hintz) Dotson of Greenwich; daughters and son-in-law, Stacie Wright of Willard; and Rebecca and Keith Ivy of Greenwich; 14 grandchildren; his mother, Mildred (Patton) Dotson; brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Pam Dotson of Willard; and sister and brother-in-law, Gayle and Larry Hershiser of Willard; several special aunts and uncles, Mrs. Lola Forbes of Mansfield; Lowell and Pauline Patton of Ashland; and Jim and Emma Jean Patton of Columbia Station; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruth and Harry Garbeth.
He worked for RR Donnelley and Sons for 39 years and retired in 2000. He enjoyed sports and participated in many including softball, golf, dartball and horseshoes. He was a member of the Willard American Legion and had served in the US Air National Guard. He thoroughly loved his grandchildren and took great joy in spending time with them. He will be greatly missed.
Calling hours for friends and family will be held at the Ripley Church, 4130 Edwards Road, Greenwich on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. where the funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM with Reverend John Baich officiating.
