| | | Donald P. Rose, age 86, resident of Willard, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 23, 2009 in Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard. He was born on May 22, 1923 in Monroeville, Ohio to the late Ralph and Louise (Rock) Rose and had been a Willard resident the majority of his life. He was graduate of Monroeville High School and served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. Mr. Rose was employed 43 years with the B&O Railroad/CSX Transportation in Willard as a carman and cook for the wreck train. He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Monroeville and Willard American Legions, a founding member of the Huron County Pheasants Forever, the NRA, and a member of the NicklePlate/Mad River Railroad Museum in Bellevue. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, playing euchre and most of all spending time with his family.
He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jim and Teresa Rose of Delaware, OH; John and Audrey Rose of Jacksonville, FL; and Richard Rose of Willard; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary and Dennis Rees of Willard; Barb and Jerry Eitle of Willard; Carol and Ed Kelsey of Greenwich; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Robert Rose of Avon Lake, OH; and a sister, Irene Bishop of Monroeville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. (Kriss) Rose in 2005, whom he married on Oct. 25, 1952; and a sister, Virginia Hoose; and a daughter-in-law, Paula J. Rose..
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio on Sunday, October 25, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where a prayer service will be held at 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Stanley S. Szybka officiating.
