  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES

On December 25, 2011, the day we celebrate our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ's birthday, with his family at his side, the angels came and took Arnold home to Heaven. It was the perfect gift.

Arnold Howard, 85, of Plymouth, Ohio, won his victory following a lengthy illness. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:7.

He was born September 29, 1926 in Floyd County, Kentucky to Linzie and Sidney Howard, who preceded him in death.

Arnold is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nadean (Reed) Howard; they were wed on June 25, 1945 in Paintsville, KY. Also surviving are 5 sons; N. Zeke (Linda) and Erv (Neva) of Ashland, Ohio, Norm (Sally) of Scottsdale, Arizona, David of Shelby, Ohio, Randy of Plymouth, Ohio; one daughter, Pam, of Plymouth, Ohio and close family friend, Linda Walton of Plymouth, Ohio; 2 sisters; Traskie (Bill) King of Willard, Ohio and Augusta (Kenneth) King of Greenville, PA; 3 brothers, Donald (Jean) Howard of Marshall, Michigan, Clarence Howard of Clyde, Ohio and Denny Howard of Battle Creek, Michigan. There are also 4 grandchildren; Sheri (Kent) McGovern of Jeromesville, Ohio, Shana (Heath) Wilkins of Beavercreek, Ohio, Scott (Cheryl) Howard of Lewis Center, Ohio and Angela (Andrew) Steinmetz of Lexington, South Carolina and 7 great-grandchildren; Kate and Emily McGovern, Noel and Lily Wilkins, Adara and Jared Steinmetz and Zach Howard. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

Arnold attended the North Broadway United Baptist Church in Shelby, Ohio where he served many years as Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He served the Lord and loved to read God's word. He was concerned for the needs of others. He wanted his family, his church family, friends and neighbors to know that he loved them and that he was at peace.

Arnold served with the U.S. Army during World War II. After his service, he worked at the Plymouth Grain Elevator for many years and later became owner/operator. He also was employed at Plymouth Locomotive Works for many years.

In early years, his interests included playing his mandolin and banjo and many other instruments. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing at Lake Erie with his sons and grandchildren. He took pride in his gardens, farming his land and raising animals.

The family will receive friends and family at Secor Funeral Home, Plymouth, Ohio on Tuesday, December 27th from 5 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 28th at the funeral home at 11 am and will be officiated by the ministers of the North Broadway United Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Plymouth, Ohio.

In honor of Arnold's wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.

"Lord, thy will be done."
