Clyde C. Cauthen, 74, of Huntsville, Texas, passed away on August 15, 2012. He was born on January 14, 1938, in Huntsville, Texas, to Morris Bush Cauthen and Verla (Sloan) Cauthen.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Cauthen, Pete Cauthen; and nephew, Jim Cauthen. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda (Nevels) Cauthen; two daughters, Andrea Patrick and husband Zack of San Antonio and Ashley Davila and husband Lee of Lakeway, Texas; grandchildren, Kyle and Alex Patrick and Harlow and Hudson Davila; sister-in-law, Irmadene Cauthen; and several cousins.
Clyde graduated from Huntsville High School and Sam Houston State University. While at Huntsville High School he was co-captain on the Hornet Football Team. He was employed by Delta Airlines in Houston and later with family owned Radio Station KSAM.
He was a lifelong runner, finishing four marathons and later took up bike riding. He loved riding his tractor and taking care of his acreage. He would say he “liked watching his pine forest grow”. He was an avid watcher of all sports especially football.
He was a faithful member of Phelps United Methodist Church. Clyde was a man of integrity, and while it was not important for him to be a leader, he was a steady and loyal follower- a true disciple of Christ.

Funeral services for Mr. Cauthen will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012, 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Texas. Interment will follow at Black Jack Cemetery, Huntsville. Family will receive friends Saturday, August 18, 2012, 1:00-2:00 p.m., before the service at First United Methodist Church. Mr. Cauthen will lie in state Friday, August 17, 2012, from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas.
