|Bernece Gaines Marsh, born September 15, 1917 in Coleman, Tx as the daughter to Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Gaines. Bernece passed away December 2, 2011 at the age 94. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her first husband, Dr. Compton Riley, with whom she had one child, Barbara. In 1999, she married the Rev. Frederick Marsh.
Bernece was an active part of Comptonís life and she loved every minute as a ministerís wife. The church came first and Comptonís ministry second. Being a mother and grandmother was what she treasured most.
Bernece is survived by her daughter Barbara and husband George, three grandchildren, Robin Reske and husband Derek, Megan Holland and husband Rick and Riley Neel. She is also survived great-grandchildren, Shamus Neel, Alyssa and Alexander Reske and Ryan and soon-to-be Penelope Rose Holland. Her children, as a gift from her marriage to Rev. Marsh, are Marjory and husband Martin Schwartz, Dr. Peter Marsh and wife Laura, John Marsh and wife Sue and five grandchildren Samuel, Carharine, Caroline, William and Clara Marsh.
Always considering the church work a privilege, with people being important and precious to her, she considered a child Godís greatest gift.
Family will receive friends Sunday, December 4, 2011, 3:00 Ė 5:00 pm at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, Huntsville, Texas. Services for Bernece will be Monday, December 5, 2011, 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Huntsville, Tx. Interment will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011, 2:30 pm at Coleman City Cemetery in Coleman, Tx.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Huntsville, Tx.
