Thelma Richburg Daugette Deike, native of Mobile, Alabama and resident of Huntsville, Texas passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 12, 1937 in Flomaton, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her son, Walden Eugene Daugette,; her parents, Morgan and Azzie Richburg; and a brother Frank Green Sr.
Thelma is survived by her sisters, Helen Harris of Mobile, AL, Faye Frost (Bob) of Spring, TX, Hazel McLellan of Mobile, AL and brother John Richburg (Sandra) of Mobile, AL. Four children, Angela Knouse (Mike), of South Boston, VA; Billy Daugette Jr. (Debra) of Huntsville, TX; Michael Daugette (Mary) of Haymarket, VA; Michelle Bressi (Chris) of Woodbridge, VA; and Sister-in-Law Anne Green of Flomaton, AL.
She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Jason Card (Jessica), Lisa Knouse, Brian Daugette, Mark Daugette (Kelsey), Billy Daugette III (Danielle), Jennifer Christiano, Cassandra and Josh Daugette, Kristen and William Bressi. She also has five great grandchildren, Jaqueline Christiano, Christi, Tyler and Chad Card and Kathleen (Baby Bea) Daugette. She also leaves behind many loving family members and friends.
Thelma began a very distinguished career working for the Federal Government in 1967 and served her country for 30 years prior to retiring to Huntsville, Texas in 1997. She was an auditor for defense contracts and worked on several programs that were top secret at the time and vital to our nation’s safety and security, including the SR-71 Blackbird, satellite surveillance systems and the nation’s space shuttle program. Her devotion to her country was surpassed only by the love for her family.
A viewing will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at Serenity Memorial Funeral Home on Old Pascagoula Road in Mobile, AL. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Serenity Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Brian Daugette, Mark Daugette, Billy Daugette III, Jason Card, Josh Daugette, Dwayne Ikner.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Richburg, Rodney Green, Dean Parent, Tim Green, Frank Green Jr., Alvin Parent, Labron Richburg and Donald Parent.
