Noel Monique Shorten, age 25, was called home to the Lord on September 20, 2009. Noel was born December 30, 1983 to Jerry and Yvette Shorten in Houston, Texas. She attended Aldine public schools and graduated from Huntsville High School in 2002, where she served as a member of the student council, the varsity cheerleader squad, the Hornet marching band and she was recognized in Who’s Who among American High School students. Noel attended the University of Houston (U of H) and graduated from the Art Institute of Houston with an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts. Noel accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of St. Paul Methodist Church.
While attending U of H in 2002 she met the love of her life, Jason Stewart. They became the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy, Jason Stewart, II.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her love Jason Stewart; her parents Jerry and Yvette Shorten; grandmother Willie Mae Mundy; her brother Jerry (Jermaine) Shorten; godparents George and Johnetta Hunt; aunts Saundar ( Linwood) Rogers;Pam Lynn
(Gregory) Wilson; Monty(Juanita) Bass, Darcus Shorten; Bernadette (Reginald) Thomas; Rebecca (John) Nelson, Nancy ( Dwight ) Bullard; Michelle Issac; Susan White; her uncle Elvis Kelly and a host of cousins and friends. She will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Wesley and Deidrick Shorten; her cousin Kedrick Gamble, grandparents Audrey and Jerry Shorten, Sr.; and grandfather Walter Bass.
Services for Noel Shorten will be held Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 2 pm at Greater Zion Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas with the Rev. Rick Nance officiating. Services are under the direction of Sam Houston Funeral Home.
