Emily Jan Reed passed away on July 4, 2009 in Huntsville, Texas. She was born November 5, 1931 to Larry and Helen Gilliland in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry Gilliland and Helen Gilliland (Cochran.) She is survived by her husband, Paul Reed, Sr.; sons, Paul Reed, Jr. and Bill Reed; grandchildren, Emily, Julie, Erin, William, Micaela, Connor and Natalie; brother, Bruce Gilliland. Emily and Paul moved to Huntsville, Texas in 1983 where Mr. Paul Reed, Sr. started teaching at SHSU. Emily worked at the SHSU Library for two years in administration. She was a giving and outgoing person and will be missed. Services will be at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Huntsville, Texas on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, 2:30 PM. Visitatation will be at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Huntsville on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Mayes Addition in Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville. Pallbearers will be Bill Reed, William Wattigny, Brent Magana, Emily Reed, Erin Magana and Chantal. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Dr. Paul Reed, Sr. and Emily J. Reed Human Resource Management Scholarship at SHSU.
