Audrey Catherine Hamilton Massey was born July 16, 1913 to Aubrey Vale Hamilton and Katherine McMahan Hamilton in Jefferson County, TX and passed away on June 10, 2009 in Huntsville, TX. Aubrey is survived by her sons, Kerry Joe (Fritz) Massey of New Waverly and Jerry Dale Massey of Wadsworth, Texas; 6 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 14 great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Massey, III; three brothers, A.V., Gene and “Snooks”; son, Bobby; grandson, Chet; two great-grandsons, Derrick and Kris. She grew up in East Texas-Jefferson County, around Nederland and Port Neches and married Robert in 1930. He was in the Merchant Marines and then oil field construction until his retirement. They moved to Waller, Texas about 1946 and run a dairy. Audrey became a L.V.N. and followed the nursing career until her retirement. They moved to London, Texas in 1973 and enjoyed life among the deer and rocks. Robert became ill and she moved back to Van Vleck. After Robert’s death in 1990, Audrey settled in New Waverly in 1993. Audrey loved knitting, crocheting and traveling. Services will be at 2:00pm on Monday, June 15 in the chapel of the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Gene Gardner officiating.
