Mark Alan Smith, born July 13, 1961, in San Antonio, TX to Delbert and Hatsue Smith, passed away at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, at the age of 47, on Sunday, June 7, 2009. He was raised in Hitchcock and graduated from Hitchcock High School in 1979. Survivors include his mother, Hatsue Smith, of Texas City, son Dylan, daughter Rachel, and granddaughter Reese. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Vickie Smith, of Willis, TX and brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Diana Smith of Everman, TX. Other survivors include aunts - Mary Ellison, of New Mexico and Phyllis Gould of Iowa, uncle and aunt Carroll and Connie Fairfield in Arizona, and uncle Robert Fairfield in San Antonio. Additional survivors include uncle and aunt Yoshio and Misako Sato, uncle and aunt Toshio and Shizuko Sato, uncle Hideo Kojima, and various other cousins, nieces and nephews in the United States and Japan. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Smith, of Texas City, uncle and aunt, Donald and Mildred Smith, of Ft. Worth, TX. and aunt, Kimiko Kojima, of Japan. A visitation will take place at Crowder Funeral Home, 401 Texas Avenue in La Marque on Thursday, June 11, between 5-7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home of Huntsville, TX.
