VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES
| | | Olen “Guy” Chandler Jr. was born August 30, 1927 in the Pinedale Community of Walker County, Texas to Olen Guy and Mary (Tabor) Chandler Sr. and passed away May 8, 2009 in Trinity, Texas. He was a long time cattle rancher and land developer known by most as “Mr. Guy”. He made many deals on a hand shake from the back tables of the Texas Café, which he used as an office. He never met a stranger, never forgot a face and had a story for everyone. The knowledge he had and the stories he told of the people throughout the county and the county itself will be greatly missed by those who knew him. If you didn’t’ know him - you missed out on quite a character.
Mr. Guy served in the Korean War from October 1950 to October 1952 as a staff sergeant for the 40th Infantry Division of the 160th RCT.
He is survived by son Mike Chandler and wife Margo, daughter Tami Chandler LaRose and husband Norman , son Bill Chandler, Jackie Chandler, granddaughters Courtney Chandler, Christie Chandler, and Jeannie Chandler Paige and husband Roger Wayne, great-grandchildren Lana Paige and Will Paige. He was preceded in death by his wife Mickey Chandler, parents and brother Jack Chandler.
Services will be held Wednesday May 13, 2009 at 10 AM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Adickes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday May 12, 2009 from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to: TX Dept. of State Health - Bureau of Kidney Health Care – P.O. Box 149347 in Austin, TX 78714-9347.
