Glendola Nelson

Glendola Nelson joined her Lord and Savior on Monday the 18th of April 2011. Glendola was affectionately and lovingly known by many as “Speck”. She will be greatly missed and remembered by her family and friends.

Glendola was born in Payson, OK on April 12, 1934 and graduated high school in Kendrick, OK. She attended USL in Lafayette and received her Nursing Licenses in Opelousas, LA. She later attended HBU and NHCC to achieve her RN in 1985.

Glendola met her husband John Richard Nelson in Chandler, OK and were married for 60 years. After leaving Lafayette, LA they later settled in Huntsville, TX. Glendola was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking for her family, taking walks in her gardens, and watching wildlife, hummingbirds being her favorite.

Glendola was the daughter of John and Mary Dunn and was one of one ten children; she is survived by siblings Mary Joe Hicks, Cozette Reeves and JB Dunn, all of Oklahoma. She is survived by her husband John R. Nelson and their five children: Johnny Glenn Nelson and wife Gail, Kathryn Sue Nelson, Tony Lynn Nelson and wife Elvira, Carolyn Ann Nelson and husband Errol Stivender, and Michael Alan Nelson and wife Jennifer. Grandchildren: Nathan Nelson, Erica Whitehead, John Richard Nelson, Aaron Nelson, Darren Nelson, Jennifer Kelso, Sy Johnson, Jonathan Nelson, Justin Nelson, Kyle Nelson, Alec Stivender, Preston Stivender, and thirteen great grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Huntsville, TX.
