|DOROTHY MAE FENNER, born in Houston, TX on Feb 8th, 1923 to Fred W Lacey & Ruby E Lacey. Dorothy went to be with Jesus on Tues, Nov 1, 2011 in Conroe, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev Fulton E Fenner, who pastored Living Word Baptist Church in Houston for 25 years. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Judith A Nelson and Judith’s daughter, Mishann Nelson-Holden. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Judith’s spouse Milton M Nelson, Fulton L and Joan E Fenner, Nancy S and Melford G Wimberly, Janice L and A Wayne Hall, Darrell P and Jackie L Fenner, Patricia F and James A Hammons, Velvet L and Stuart R Quartemont; as well as her 23 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Dorothy was a resident of Houston most of her life until she and Fulton relocated to Conroe in 2000. In her earlier years, Dorothy and two of her sisters formed The Lacey Trio, where they performed at many revivals in the Houston vicinity. She was also a house mother at Teen Liberators in Houston and was a mother figure to many others throughout their years of pastoring. She truly had a servant's heart and her gift of hospitality was enjoyed by many over the years. She loved singing, cooking and playing the piano. She will be remembered and loved by all who had the opportunity of knowing her.
Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, November 3 from 6-8 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis. Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, November 5 at 10 AM at the Grace International Church in Willis. Burial will be later that day at 3 PM at Brookside Cemetery in Houston.
