Edith A. Hamner, age 78, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011, due to complications from surgery.
Born February 10, 1933 in Chicago, IL, Edith was a long-time resident of Corinthian Point, Willis, TX and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Willis. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and being with friends and family. Her travels took her across the United States, to Europe and China. Edith enjoyed life and exploring the world, especially by going on cruises.
She is survived by her loving husband, Galze Hamner; Children: son and daughter-in-law Dan and Vicki Osborn, daughter Pam Satterfield, son and daughter-in-law John and Noemi Osborn; step-daughter and stepson-in-law Annette and Scott Stanford; and step-son, Mark Hamner; Sisters: Margaret Stephens, Helen (Susie) Connell and Irene Hickey; Grandchildren Kelle and Heather Osborn, Jason Haritos and wife Angela, Sonya Chambers and husband Christopher, Cesar and Nicholas Osborn, Lesly Haworth, Andrew Haworth, Josh and Matthew Stanford; Great-grandchildren Garret Aguilar, Kaily Haritos, Andrew Hinojosa, Antonio Hinojosa, Rhyan Haworth and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Burton Mehornay and Helen Schultz and her brother, Clyde Mehornay.
The memorial service is at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 28th, at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis, TX.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Edith’s name to the First United Methodist Church of Willis.
Following the service, a celebration of Edith’s life will be held at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Willis. Condolences may be left at www.shmfh.com.
