Annabel Roberson Dykstra went to be with her Lord on Jan. 11, 2011 in Conroe, Texas. She was born Annabel Parrish, third daughter of Henry and Lucy Parrish, on Dec. 10, 1918 in Franklin County, Illinois. She was predeceased by her sisters Hazel and Freda.
She survived two husbands, Verbal Roberson 1936-1963 and John Dykstra 1966-2002. She and Verbal had four children, Barbara Roberts of St Petersburg, FL, James Roberson of Conroe, TX (Betty), Joyce de la Ossa of Santa Rosa, CA (Jess), Tom Roberson (deceased) of Longview, TX (Linda). She also had 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Her greatest passion was her church work, at Williams Chapel Baptist Church in Ewing, IL, Argo Baptist Church in Argo, IL and Memorial Baptist Church in Oak Lawn, IL. She played the organ and piano, taught Sunday School and was Church Secretary at Memorial for many years. She was also active at her son Tom’s church, Oakland Heights Baptist Church, Longview, TX.
A special thanks to the caregivers at Compassionate Care, Conroe, TX and Hospice Care of the Southwest for their love and devotion in her last few months.
The arrangements are being handled by Johnston Funeral Home of Ina, IL. Viewing is on Friday Jan. 14, 5 to 9 PM. A memorial service will be in the Johnston Funeral Chapel at 10 AM Sat. Jan 15 with interment immediately following at Williams Chapel Cemetery.
