| | | Laura Belle Paddock passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Born in Orange, Texas on October 24, 1913, she had recently celebrated her 96th birthday. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Archie M. Paddock. She and her husband Archie had long been active in the Willis business community. After opening the Palace Drug Store, they later established Paddock & Scott Grocery & General Merchandise. Laura Belle was a devoted Christian woman who knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Willis for more than 73 years, and had recently been honored as the longest serving member of that church. In the past, she greatly enjoyed attending Bible Study Fellowship with her sidekick Velna Brabham, and still enjoyed attending 2nd Friday Gospel Singing at The First Baptist Church. She greatly enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was an artist, a gardener, and an avid reader.
She is survived by her children: Melville B. Paddock, and wife Peggy; Olivia Dell Wise, and husband Wayne; Kenneth Paddock, and wife Lois; and Danny Paddock. She also had 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Her life was a gift of love; her love was a gift for life.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Wednesday, November 4, from 6 to 8 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis, TX. Funeral Services will be held at The First United Methodist Church in Willis on Thursday, November 5 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Willis Cemetery.
