Billy Lee Jelks entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Born July 4, 1929 in Smackover, Arkansas to Roy Jelks and Vera Ross. Left to cherish his memory is Laura, his loving and devoted wife of 34 years; sister Betty DeWeese of Houston; sister Marie Hochman and husband Benny of Sidney NE; sister Janis Roberts and husband Paul of Sidney, NE; sister Dorothy Clause and husband Joe of Alice, TX; stepdaughter Teresa Walker and son Michael of Houston; stepson Morgan McCain and wife Dina and daughters Karri, Kristen and Jordyn of Houston; stepson Mark McCain and sons Jeremiah and Justin; the light and joy of his life, Matt and Kaysa Pierce, and sons Holtan and Trevor; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Billy is preceded in death by his son William Lee Jelks; and his brother-in-law Al DeWeese. Visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday, October 2 from 7-9 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 3 at 3 PM in the Chapel at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis with interment following services at Smith Memorial Park in Willis.
