Janet Nelson Davis, age 59, of Worthington, Ohio, was called home by her Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 22, 2007 after a courageous, six year struggle with breast cancer. Born April 6,1947 of Francis & Helen Nelson in Erie, PA. Janet grew up in Erie and was a 1965 graduate of Academy High School. Janet met and married Donald G. Davis in Columbus, Ohio, on October 16, 1971, and they have been residents in the Columbus area for years.
Janet was an active member of the Grace Brethren Church since 1971, and will be remembered fondly by many Worthington Christian students as the “Campbell Soup Lady”. She had participated in many church and community services to spread hope to others through her own cancer experiences. She was an active member of the Worthington Women’s Club. Janet loved music, shopping, traveling, and birdwatching. Her remarkable strength and determination, zest for life, fearless nature when trying new things, enthusiasm, and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. Mom, you truly “did it all”. She is survived by her husband, Don of Worthington, and two married children, Rachel (Jim) of Egg Harbor Twp, NJ, and Bethany (John) of Delaware, OH. Also survived by her mother, Helen of Erie PA, and brother, B. Eric (Susan) of Atlanta, GA. She is preceded in death by her father, Francis L. Nelson. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Grace Brethren Church of Columbus, 8225 Worthington-Galena Road, Westerville, Ohio 43081, at 11am. Family will be receiving visitors from 10am-11am. Burial will be in Venango, PA with family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in her memory to Grace Brethren Church-Pastoral Care Ministry.
