James Watson “Big Jim”Thacker,70, of Rush, Ky. passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Rollins Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Byard officiating. Interment will follow in Dock’s Creek Cemetery, Kenova, WV. Jim was born May 5, 1941 in Wayne County WV. a son of the late Charles Thacker and Greetis Moler Thacker Rife. Jim was an avid Bowler and enjoyed all sports especially baseball. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army and he was a member of the VFW of Long Beach, CA. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Gene Thacker and his step-dad William Rife. Survivors include his beloved wife Patty Sue Thacker, one son James Michael Thacker of Seattle, Washington; one daughter and son-in-law Sherry Lynn Ripley (Bruce) of Portland, Oregon; three brothers Bobby Thacker of Columbus, Ohio, David Thacker of Cottage Grove, Oregon and Charles Thacker of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren Christine, Michelle and Katherine Ripley and Noah and Adam Thacker.
