Stephen Bret Wellman, 49, of Kenova , WV. passed suddenly on June 22, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father Larry Gene Wellman, of Kenova, whom he missed and cherished his entire life until his death. He was also preceded in death by one niece Maggie Wellman, of Kenova, and two sets of grandparents, William (Ruby) Taylor and Elzie (Bertha) Wellman both of Kenova. Steve was a 1980 graduate of Buffalo High School of Wayne Co. He was a conductor for the CSX Railroad for 30 years and a member of the Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Steve’s greatest joy came from coaching and watching his boys play ball. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 20 years, Ronda Wellman and two wonderful sons Jacob Wellman and Jonah Wellman of Kenova. His mother Wanda Gayle Wellman; one brother Brian (Renee) Wellman of Kenova; three sisters Tammy Lynn Ward of Lavalette, Shelly (Frank) Arthur of Lavalette and Kelly (Greg) Matney of South Point, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews Zach Wellman, Elijah Wellman and Sophie Wellman of Kenova, WV.; Savanah Matney, Tait Matney of South Point, Ohio; Michael (Carrie) Thacker of Westmoreland and Rebekah (John) Frazier of Ceredo, WV. He also leaves behind six great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Frank Arthur, Brian Wellman, Lee Campbell, Zach Wellman, Elijah Wellman, Michael Thacker, Gary Perry and Glenn Topping. Visitation will be Saturday, June 25. 2011 from 6-8 P.M. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday June 26, 2011 at the Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Jayne and Pastor Greg Matney officiating. Burial will follow in Dock’s Creek Cemetery.
