| Lenora Burns, a twelve year resident of Newburgh, New York went home to be with the Lord on Sunday June 22, 2008 at Elant at Newburgh Nursing Home in Newburgh. She was 84 years old.
Lenora was born October 23, 1923 in Hope Mills, North Carolina to the late Walter Debro Burns and Mary Kate Jackson. Lenora accepted Jesus Christ as her Savoir and became a member of Baptist Union Missionary Baptist Church in Hope Mills, North Carolina. Lenora worked as a cook at Hope Mills Junior High School for thirty years; later to retire. Lenora was loved by all who knew her because of her caring and patient spirit. Lenora loved to cook and bake for her family, friends and church members. She was also an avid fan of daytime soap operas for many years. Lenora gave birth to five children; three sons and two daughters. She leaves to cherish her memories with two daughters, Helen Bradshaw and Annetta Burns-Westmoreland; daughter-in-law, Beatrice Burns; three sisters, Grace Burns, Marie Brunson and Mildred Hayes; one brother, Walter Uncle Buddy Burns; five grandchildren, Ashley Bradshaw, LaShonda Burns, Laquece Burns-Armstrong, Lakisha Marks and George Walter Burns Jr.; nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, Saints and friends. She was predeceased by parents and three sons. Elder Thermond Herring, Officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Middlehope, New York | ||
