She was a faithful and devoted charted member for thirty two years of Baptist Temple Missionary Church of Newburgh, New York under the pastoral leadership of the late Saul S. Williams and Pastor Byron Williams. She was a chairwoman of the Deaconess Ministry, Past Vice President of the Nurses Unit, President of the Clothing Ministry and President of the Baptist Temple Choir. She was a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Newburgh, New York under the leadership of the late Reverend William D. Burton and the late Saul S. Williams.

Two sons, Junius Hayes of Waterbury, Connecticut and Bernard Mathis and wife Shirephine of Hope Hull, Alabama; Four sisters, Laura Owens, Charlene Monk and Catherine Williams all of Newburgh, New York and Betty Faison and husband Billy of Jacksonville, North Carolina; Two brothers, James (Que-Ball) Hayes of Newburgh, New York and Milford Hayes and wife Mattie of Jacksonville, North Carolina; Aunt, Mildred Hayes of Newburgh, New York; Two granddaughters, Shinara and Lucorin Mathis both of Hope Hull, Alabama; Special daughter, Carolyn Green and husband James; Two godsons, Jaquan and Jamel; Mother and Father-in-law, Walter and Esther Grannum all of Newburgh, New York. A special thanks to her care givers, Queenie Owens, Anne Milligan and Vicky McNair. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was predeceased by husband, Cephas J. Miller; parents, sisters, Tressie-Mae MacCollop, Mary Fennell, Cylde McClinton and Emma Underwood and three brothers, Jerry Powell, Odell Hayes and Perry Hayes.

Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Middlehope, New York.
