Member of Smith Metropolitan AME Zion Church Poughkeepsie, New York He received his education in Sampson County, North Carolina. He also served in the Army during the Korean War in 1951-1953. Atily and husband McLakin all of Poughkeepsie, New York, Cleather Bryant and husband Otha of Bronx, New York, Patricia Cooper and husband Adrian of Erwin, North Carolina; In addition he is also survived by brother-in-law, David Merritt; Sister-in-law, Margaret Fryar both of Poughkeepsie, New York; Many aunts, uncles, cousins a host of nieces, nephew, great nieces, great nephews and many good friends.
