Marguerite (Mag) Schultz, age 94 of Malmo, died Thursday August 12, 2004 at her home.

She was born April 11, 1910 at Schuyler, NE to Thomas and Anna (Severine) Shanahan. Following one year of college, she taught for 2 years at a country school near Malmo. On June 12, 1934 she married Theodore Schultz at Fremont, NE. They owned and operated Mag and Tedís Bar in Malmo from 1933 to 1972.

Mag loved her family and friends, and was always willing to take people into her home to care for them, including several elderly family members. When her sister died unexpectedly, Mag and Ted adopted her two younger daughters. The older one had already reached adulthood. Mag remained very active even up to the time of her death. Among other activities, she enjoyed bingo, reading and crocheting. She was a member of Malmo American Legion Post #232, and the Edensburg Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, 3 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Daryl Swanson of Wahoo, and Nancy and Clarence Egr of Prague; special niece Loretta (Leland) Koresky of Malmo; brothers Robert Shanahan of North Platte, and John (Rosemary) Shanahan of Wahoo; sisters-in-law Hazel Shanahan of Wahoo, and Elva Schultz of Stanton, IA; special friends Catherine Dauel and Irene Koresky; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday August 16 at the Edensburg Lutheran Church in Malmo with Rev. Milana Joseph officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Casket bearers will be grandchildren Jason Swanson, Bryon Swanson, Chris Egr, Carmon Egr, Kerry Stohlmann, and Michelle Stohlmann. Burial will be at Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo. Memorials may be made to the Church or the Malmo American Legion Auxiliary.
