| | | | Margaret F. Peg Strong, 89, of Lakewood, died at 5:50 P.M. Monday (Feb. 27, 2012) in her home.
She was born Oct. 1, 1922 in Jamestown, the daughter of Walter H. and Margaret E. Markey Zimmerman.
A graduate of Jamestown High School, she and her husband were the former owners of the Forest Heights Golf Course. In later years she worked at the James Prendergast Library until retiring.
Pegs passions in life were her family, reading, and traveling. She was also an avid movie fan.
Surviving are a daughter, Marcy C. Strong of Jamestown; four granddaughters: Nicole M. Sypin of Erie, Pa., Richelle R. Smith and Alicia A. Raymond, both of Jamestown, and Shannon M. Strong-Snow of Lakewood; three grandsons: Scott A. Strong of Cumming, Ga., Todd A. Strong of Jamestown, and Sean Strong of Warren, Pa.; eleven great grandchildren; and her friend and caretaker, Terese Holmberg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Roger Strong, whom she married April 19, 1947, and who died Dec. 14, 1989; a son, Brian D. Strong; a daughter, Julie A. Strong; and by two brothers: Vincent F. and Walter J. Zimmerman.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Victory Tabernacle, 501 W. Third St., Jamestown. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. To send a message to the family, visit www.presentsixbeyfuneral.com.
