Christopher David Miller, 28, of Yonkers, New York, died June 9, 2009 as a result of
a kayaking accident. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17 at the Powers Funeral Home at the junction of Highways 34 and 25 in Creston, Iowa. Grave Side Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday June 18, at the Newbern Cemetery near Lacona, Iowa. A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Crest Baptist Church in Creston, Iowa. Christopher David Miller, son of Paul Joseph Miller and Eleanor “Ellie”(Max) Miller was born December 13, 1980 in Sandwich, Illinois. Throughout his youth, the family moved to Aurora, Illinois, Wheatland, Wyoming, Marion, Iowa,
and Ankeny, Iowa. Chris attended Ankeny High School, graduating in 1999.
After graduation, Chris attended Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois,
graduating with a degree in political science. In his junior year at Olivet, Chris enrolled in the American Studies Program in Washington D.C. and the Middle Eastern Studies Program in Cairo, Egypt during his senior year.

Christopher married Nicole (Anderson) Miller, on June 12, 2004, in Ames, Iowa. Together, they moved to Toronto, Ontario, where Chris enrolled in the Masters program at the Institute for Christian Studies. After completing his studies in political theory, the couple returned briefly to Des Moines, Iowa, where Chris worked for PROTEUS, Inc. and Nicole worked for Wells Fargo, Inc. The couple amazed friends and relatives with a six week journey down the Mississippi River on a home-made raft built by Chris and his dad. Immediately following this adventure, the couple moved to Yonkers, New York, where Christopher took a job at English First International teaching English and International Affairs while Nicole enrolled in the MFA program at Sarah Lawrence College.

Chris is survived by his wife, Nicole (Anderson) Miller of Yonkers, New York; parents
Paul and Ellie Miller of Creston, Iowa; sister Amy (Wes) Clark and niece Kylee Short of Afton, Iowa; father and mother in-law, Ross and Sandy Anderson of Ankeny, Iowa; sisters in-law, Heather and Kristen Anderson and niece, Taylor Hale; Grandfather, Paul Miller of Lacona, Iowa. He was joined in death by his brother, Chad Miller, of Wilmington, Delaware.

Christopher was preceded in death by his Grandfather, Rev. Homer L. Max, Grandmother, Mrs. Rosamond Max and Grandmother, Mrs. Veda Miller.
