Chad Max Miller, 34 of Wilmington, Delaware, died June 9, 2009 as a result of a kayaking accident. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17 at the Powers Funeral Home at the junction of Highways 34 and 25 in Creston, Iowa. Grave Side Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Newbern Cemetery near Lacona, Iowa. A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Crest Baptist Church in Creston, Iowa. Chad Max Miller, son of Paul Joseph Miller and Eleanor “Ellie”
(Max) Miller was born August 12, 1974 in Sandwich, Illinois. Throughout his
youth, the family moved to Aurora, Illinois, Wheatland, Wyoming, and Marion, Iowa.
Chad attended Lin-Mar High School, graduating in 1991. After graduation, Chad attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, earning a degree in Mathematics and German Language. As a part of his college experience, Chad spent time living and studying in Austria. Chad continued his studies at Asbury Theological Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky, earning a Masters of Divinity. Chad served as a minister in Kentucky, Illinois and was Minister in charge of Missions and Youth at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Delaware. Chad organized and led mission trips to Guatemala, Mexico and New Orleans. He regularly volunteered as a carpenter on Habitat for Humanity projects.

Chad is survived by his parents Paul and Ellie Miller of Creston, Iowa; sister Amy (Wes) Clark and niece Kylee Short of Afton, Iowa; sister in-law, Nicole (Anderson) Miller of Yonkers, New York; Grandfather, Paul Miller of Lacona, Iowa. He was joined in death by his brother, Chris Miller of Yonkers, New York.

Chad was preceded in death by his Grandfather, Rev. Homer L. Max, Grandmother, Mrs. Rosamond Max and Grandmother, Mrs. Veda Miller.
