| | | HAWARDEN, IOWA- WILLIAM “BUD” F. BARNUM, 91, passed away Monday, March 19, 2007 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Porter Funeral Home.
William “Bud” F. Barnum was born August 15, 1915, in Hawarden, Iowa to William and Elena (Carlson) Barnum. He attended Grammar School through the 8th grade in Hawarden.
He married Claire Bryson on October 9, 1933 in Yankton, South Dakota. They lived their entire life in Hawarden. Bud spent 43 years of his working career at LG Everist, retiring at age 74.
Bud was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church. He loved his dogs and was an avid trapper in his early years. He was also known for the Hawarden history with Bud.
Survivors include two sons, Rodney “Rocky” Barnum and Darold “Dari” Barnum both of Hawarden; four grandchildren, Donald “Joe” Barnum of Brandon, Florida of the United States Air Force, Troy Barnum and fiancé Lori Parks of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Tammy (Barnum) Flittie and husband Bob of Fremont, Nebraska, and Jason Barnum and wife Sena of Rapid City, South Dakota; seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth “Ellie” Flittie, Andrew Barnum, Hunter Flittie, Keegan Barnum, Jacob Barnum, Logan Barnum, and Brendan Garrison.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years; two sons, Frank Barnum July 12, 2002 and Donald “Donnie” Barnum June 9, 2003; and a sister, Florence Johnson.
