| | | Inwood, IA: Ed Boekestein, 87, of Grandville, MI, formerly of Inwood, died Thursday, October 5, 2006. Funeral Service will be in Wyoming, MI Monday. Burial will be at Inwood’s Richland Cemetery, meeting at Porter Funeral Home at Inwood 11 am Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006.
Ed was born June 17, 1919 on a farm SE of Inwood, son of Evert and Hindrieka (Kuyper) Boekestein. He attended a one-room country school through the 8th grade. He met Frieda Kas when they were only 17 while he was working for farmers in the Holland, MN area. They were married in his childhood home on October 18, 1943. Together they lived in a small house trailer on that farm until moving into the farm house just before Jane was born in August of 1945. They attended the Inwood Christian Reformed Church until moving to Wyoming, MI in December of 1962. In Michigan, Ed worked for Creston Christian Shool in Grand Rapids until his retirement in 1986. Ed and Frieda moved to Rose Garden Homes in Grandville, MI in August of 2005 where Ed passed away October 2, 2006.
